New Records

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

What was predicted came true.

According to Activision,  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 generated a reported $550million during its first 5 days of being on sale.

If there were records to break, it broke them. It smashed all previous box office entertainment-related records, making it the most successful entertainment launch of all time.

Ex BOX LIVE

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Microsoft has put its foot down and cut off a reported 600,000 XBOX Live users.

The reason is based around users modifying, or chipping,  their console in order to play pirated copies of games. Microsoft has stated that this action by users violates the XBOX Live terms of use.

The 600,000 could even rise to the 1 million mark as the crackdown takes place.

Modern Warfare 2 Launches

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

As the man serving behind the counter said…”ENJOY”!

Monday night marked the official retail launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 across the UK and the world.

Dedicated fans who didn’t pre-order online (and with the UK postal issues that wasn’t a bad idea) lined up for midnight openings to get their hands on a copy.

“I can’t wait, it was so worth it, I’m gonna be up all night”. Those were just some of the outrageous comments by those braving the arctic temperatures, as GameShadow witnessed the hype and beeping of the tills as the various copies flew off the shelves.

Expect the number of people off work or school, or “working from home”, to increase drastically today as fans take control and experience what has been a worldwide phenomenon.

As expected, it’s on course to break records for week one sales and become the biggest entertainment source this year and well into next.

Roll on Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Record

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

MCV has reported in its Friday 30th October issue that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to break the UK entertainment launch record held by Grand Theft Auto IV.

Having sold an estimated 500,000 pre-orders, a target of 1.7m for first week sales has been predicted, nearly double that of the previous record.

A lot of talk had surfaced about whether this record would be achieved, but it now looks likely.
