Australian Fear Over F.E.A.R. 2

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is the latest game to be refused a classification down under in Australia, where there is no official rating to allow computer games to be sold to adults only.

This situation has also previously occurred for Shellshock 2: Blood Trails and Silent Hill: Homecoming.

The publisher Warner Bros. are currently looking into an appeals process which could result in the game being edited for Australian release, a situation that occurred for Bethesda’s Fallout 3.

The Good, The Bad And The Unwatchable!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Tons of games have been turned into films. Max Payne is the latest of these, and from what I’ve heard (tho’ I haven’t seen it myself yet) successfully continues the long running disappointment of games to film.

Tell us which (if any) game to film you enjoyed the most and which you think was the most terrible…

(Can’t think? Try this)

Buying Time

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

The conclusion of 2008 is no different from previous years. Credit crunch or no credit crunch, all entertainment companies want to make a splash in the retail market.

Now the final quarter of the year is in full flow and with releases such as Far Cry 2, FIFA 09, and Fallout 3 making their respective marks, the Holiday Season is reaching a new level of excitement for gamers.

Big titles will continue their promotional push, aiming to sell well from now into next year and the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Need for Speed: Undercover, LOTRO: Mines of Moria and Tomb Raider Underworld, will be key players for their respective publishers and developers, and good sales will help justify whether to produce another edition, or a sequel, or a spin-off next year.

It isn’t make or break entirely, but it helps to have a happy Holiday Season.
