Tough Times For Midway

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

The American publisher Midway has announced it is cutting 25 percent of its staff, closing its studio in Austin, Texas and cancelling unannounced projects due for 2010/2011.

Midway is struggling badly with large debts and these cost cutting measures are part of the consequences.

Earlier this year, one of the biggest titles Midway released was Mortal Combat vs DC Universe and 2009 should still see the release of The Wheelman and This is Vegas.

Gaming Supremacy

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

2008 has been a giant year for gaming, with a host of top titles released and the final quarter of the year shaping up to be the busiest of all time.

Here at GameShadow, we’ve thought about which games have battled it out in certain genres and are asking you for your thoughts on…

Has Call of Duty: World at War ruled over other first person shooters like Far Cry 2?

FIFA 09 or PES 2009, which has dominated and scored over the other?

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures or World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King, who’s ruled the MMO between these two?

2 Call of Duty Franchises?

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been confirmed and is set to be released in Autumn 2009.

Could this be the start of 2 franchises? Treyarch’s Word at War franchise and Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare.

The more cynical among us will probably refer to the different franchises as 3 & 3.5 and 4 & 4.5…

Anyway, Taliban Zombie Bonus Mode anyone?

I’m A PC And I Play GTA IV

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

After massive console sales, this week sees Grand Theft Auto IV finally hit the PC.

A lot of talk surfaced about whether it would or wouldn’t be released on the PC, but after a slight delay from the original November release date, it is now here.

The video editor looks a quality addition to the game, allowing the capturing, editing and sharing of in-game footage.

It will be interesting to see how it performs against the other big titles in the busiest time of the retail year.
