Enter The Battlefield

The successful development team at Dice are in full flow at the moment, with three Battlefield titles due before the end of the year.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the follow up to the 2008 original, due for release on PC, XBOX 360 and PS3 in the latter part of the year.

Battlefield 1943 is aiming to throw players into an all-new World War 2 multiplayer experience, with its launch due before the second Bad Company.

Thirdly, the Play 4 Free, cartoon-style shooter, Battlefield Heroes, has been floating around for sometime now and is still due for launch before the middle of the year.

Prototype Top 10

A special Prototype Top 10 Trailer has been released for the open-world action game.

Launching in June, the trailer highlights all the manoeuvres, features and abilities of the central character Alex Mercer.

Developed by Radical Entertainment, the PC, XBOX 360 and PS3 title is one of the marked releases this first half of the year.

Modern Warfare 2

It seems that the next edition in the Call of Duty series won’t feature the main name in its title.

Infinity Ward has released the first Modern Warfare 2 teaser – with no sign of the familiar Call of Duty name.

The game is scheduled for a 10th November release date.

Modern Warfare 2 will resurrect the 21st Century first person shooter experience for its players.

New Games for Windows – LIVE Features

Microsoft has announced a new series of features coming to its Games for Windows – LIVE service.

Anti-Piracy Solution: Zero-day piracy protection and server-side authentication help prevent game piracy before street date, and protect publishers and consumers by requiring authentication for online play.

In-Game Marketplace: New Marketplace APIs let developers create unique in-game store fronts and experiences surrounding the sale of additional content, providing developers and publishers with new revenue streams, and consumers with a seamless gaming experience.

Roaming: PC gamers can now save their personal settings back to their Games for Windows – LIVE account in the cloud, providing access to their settings on any compatible and connected Windows PC.

These details were announced at GDC 2009 being held in San Francisco, USA, this week.

More Payne

Rockstar Games has announced that Max Payne 3 will be released this winter on the XBOX 360, PS3 and PC.

A teaser site has been put up in preparation for release.

The game will follow on from the previous two, Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, and features an older, wiser character.

Bioshock 2 News

There have been a few rumours running around on the internet recently about Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams.

The sequel from 2K Games is due for release towards the end of the year and some concrete details have now been confirmed.

Set 10 years after the first Bioshock, the role that players will take on is that of the first ever Big Daddy, facing off against the evil Big Sister.
As expected, there will be a host of new features, options and the ability to do more with weapons, but of significant interest is the inclusion of multiplayer gameplay.

Further details will be revealed in time.

Mass Effect 2 Launch Details

Electronic Arts has released confirmation news on its action RPG title Mass Effect 2.

The sequel will be launching around the first quarter of 2010 for the PC and XBOX 360 only and aims to bring “intensified combat and expanded weapon options, as well as increased depth of planet exploration.”

A teaser for this second part of the Mass Effect trilogy has already been released.

The Pitt Stop

The second piece of Fallout 3 downloadable content has been brought to life in its trailer.

The Pitt will be released this month and is the follow up to Operation Anchorage.

It features new quests and factions to the 2008 RPG title and continues the recent influx of DLC for major titles, including Mirror’s Edge, Tomb Raider Underworld and GTA IV.

More Action And More Zombies

As we predicted a few weeks back, details on Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 have surfaced.

We know that GameShadow has a big number of Call of Duty users and they’ll be pleased to hear of the first Map Pack heading to the XBOX 360 and PS3 this month, with the PC edition at a later date.

The Nazi Zombie Level found in Map Pack 1 looks to be the main draw.

Strategic Release

After the announcement that World In Conflict: Soviet Assault will not be released in console form anytime soon, players of the original World In Conflict have had a major game update.

A patch weighing in at over 950MB brings the game to version 1.10 and will gear up the 2007 title for multiplayer gaming compatibility with the new Soviet Assault release.

This is a significant update to help extend the real time strategy experience.

Ubisoft is publishing World In Conflict: Soviet Assault.

Unreal Update

As we tweeted on Friday, Unreal Tournament 3 has had a giant update.

The patch brings the first person shooter to version 2.00 and applies a heap of fixes and features.

The Titan Pack, weighing in at over 900MB, supplies players with new maps and units.

The 2007 title, developed by Epic Games and published by the now in trouble Midway, is still going strong.

Games Blamed For Fat Kids

Yay, once again it’s all gone mad. Whatever next, publishers and developers should be feeling very responsible. Well if you’ve seen the latest ad from the Government then they’d have you think that playing games is the problem.

Complain about the ad now if you feel like we do, and there’s a Facebook group if you want to get all socially about it.

Soviet Assault Stays On PC

World In Conflict: Soviet Assault will not be launching on consoles this month, or anytime soon.

The real time strategy title, picked up Ubisoft from previous publisher Sierra, is to be released only on PC.

There is no concrete news on whether a PS3 or XBOX 360 release will surface this year, or if developer Massive Entertainment have shifted their focus to a new title, under the supervision of Ubisoft.
