EA’s next Need for Speed title, Need for Speed: Shift will be available to play at various GAME stores around the UK over the next few weeks.

If you’re fast enough, you’ll go through to the grand final at Thorpe Park, Surrey, on September 26th with winner getting a brand new Nissan 350Z GT sports car.

A similar competition was held at E3 2009 back in June, with the winner receiving a BMW M3.

Immersion, the new black?

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Ubi set out to make Far Cry 2 as immersive as possible. And they’ve really done a great job. I swear I will never get tired of seeing my avatar’s finger push through his arm to ‘pop’ a bullet out the other side. Or the way you get a glimpse of your own legs when moving between the driver’s seat and a mounted gun.

I’ll be honest tho’ it’s lacking something, something you can’t get from software alone. Like the heat of the sand under your feet, the mild, refreshing, breeze in your hair and the orangey ambient glow from a kick-arse sunset.

Well this is of course where I tell you about something amazing that does the stuff I just mentioned. Introducing amBX. amBX does all that (apart from the heat-of-the-sand bit, but hey just put your feet on the radiator ;D) plus rumble.

So am I just teasing you? No amBX and GameShadow are giving you the chance to win ONE of TWENTY Premium kits plus a copy of, my current favourite game, Far Cry 2.

Fallout 3 Perks Competition Results

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Bethesda has recently been running a competition on its website to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Fallout series. Fans were asked to submit ideas for perks - Fallout’s version of traits.

Sadly, the big winner was a sensible, useful gameplay mechanic, rather than something ludicrous. ‘Grim Reaper’s Sprint’ refills players’ move action points every time they kill an enemy.

More interesting runners up included:

Kleptomaniac: You have the uncontrollable urge to steal from people you talk to. They never notice it, but neither do you! You sometimes end up with their money or items. It’s like a disease!

- Crazy Eye: Opponents attacking from the front suffer a penalty to hit you because, seriously, that eye is freaking me out.

- Puppet Master: You have a special little friend, your hand puppet who has followed you through thick and thin, and always has an opinion about things. (Gain an extra dialogue option)

Un-console-able

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

Are you sick to death of playing games on your PC? Of course you not, after all you’re not insane or anything? Are you?

Having said that, maybe like a guilty schoolboy outside an adult bookstore, you’ve been recently tempted by one of the other spanky looking game machines winking suggestively at you from the shelves? Shame on you, Gameshadow can’t possibly condone such outrageous behavior outright. After all the PC is god.

But just in case… why not check out the current “competition” in this all-new Gameshadow feature, looking at the best and the worst of the console crop, just so you know what’s going on obviously. I mean, where’s the harm in that?

Think you’re better than me at Pro Evo?

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Gaming purists across the land are well aware that when it comes to the FIFA Vs Pro Evolution Soccer debate, the boys at Konami have been leading the game for some considerable time, and unlike say, struggling Tottenham (Goodbye Martin Jol by the way), aren’t about to throw away their substantial lead in a display of defensive incompetence anytime soon.

The next installment in this sublime footy series (Number 7 for those still counting) is released today across all formats, and for anyone serious about their favourite sporting sim, should be snatched up like Kaka on a free - without delay. For those who really fancy themselves as a bit of a master player (there’s an awful lot of “large” going on amongst my game-playing friends I know) I suggest you head over to play.com where they’re running an exclusive promotion  that allows you to enter a massive online tournament kicking off later this year, with the top 32 qualifying players off to a World Cup Scenario staged someone glamorous (probably won’t be Selhurst Park then).

Oh, and did I mention there’s a £50,000 prize for the ultimate winner? Not that there’s really much point in you lot entering, since I’m pretty sure I’ll be waltzing off “Maradonna style” (pre-Flab and Drug Binges obviously), with that phat cash pot myself…
