More Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 news has been spilt over the past 24 hours.

A list of mission names has been revealed, Terminal, Evasion, Estate Takedown and Suspension are just a few, in no particular order.

These details have come hot on the heals of the Infamy Trailer and the news of the PC edition now being released on November 24.

Believe The Hype

Friday, September 18th, 2009

As the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 draws closer, the hype is starting to build and become frenzied.

Every trailer or video that gets released drives the hype and whets the appetite of potential players.

It is debated whether the Infinity Ward developed title will break records for week one sales and beat Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV from 2008, only time will tell.

A plethora of content, a strong franchise, pre-orders advertised for over 6 months, midnight store openings and a massive publishing push. These terms could be applied to either of the two previously mentioned games. Activision though is aiming to make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 the entertainment source of the year, ahead of other big game releases and ahead of top music, TV and movie releases.

Who would bet against them succeeding?

Aiming For Records

Friday, June 19th, 2009

2008 saw Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV reach new promotional heights and surpass all-time entertainment records for day one and week one sales.

Now 2009 is shaping up for Modern Warfare 2, from Activision and Infinity Ward, to run it very close.

The 2009 edition in the ever-popular first person shooter series is aiming to beat competition not just from rival games, but TV and movie blockbusters too, making it the main entertainment source of the year.

Modern Warfare 2

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

It seems that the next edition in the Call of Duty series won’t feature the main name in its title.

Infinity Ward has released the first Modern Warfare 2 teaser – with no sign of the familiar Call of Duty name.

The game is scheduled for a 10th November release date.

Modern Warfare 2 will resurrect the 21st Century first person shooter experience for its players.

Take a look at the MW2 Teaser.

2 Call of Duty Franchises?

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been confirmed and is set to be released in Autumn 2009.

Could this be the start of 2 franchises? Treyarch’s Word at War franchise and Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare.

The more cynical among us will probably refer to the different franchises as 3 & 3.5 and 4 & 4.5…

Anyway, Taliban Zombie Bonus Mode anyone?

Infinity Ward: New Projects

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Infinity Ward - of Call of Duty fame - has announced on its blog that the company has completed talks with publisher / parent company Activision, and is set to embark on new projects.

“[The negotiation] has laid the ground work and kick started our future project, as well as the possibility of a unique new IP by Infinity Ward, that we’ll have complete control over. We’re excited to be working on our next project, but it’s going to be quite a while before I can share any details on exactly what that project is.”

I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if the ‘future project’ that’s definitely in motion isn’t CoD 6, but it’s the potential new IP that’s exciting (though obviously disappointing that Activision has only granted the developer the ‘possibility’). Since forming from ex-2015 Medal of Honor staff in 2002, CoD is the only franchise the team has worked on, so letting them loose on something fresh could see somthing genuinely special.

At least one of the projects is tipped to be sci-fi (CoD: Future Warfare anyone?), but time will tell.

Free CoD4 Map Pack this Thursday

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack is confirmed to be arriving on PC this Thursday.

PC gamers have one up on the 360 audience in that the release is sponsored by Nvidia, meaning the pack can be released for free. To be honest, the idea of PC gamers forking out for a map pack is pretty far fetched anyway - although if any game’s going to get away with it, it’s CoD4 - so it’s a good thing it’s arriving gratis.

The pack will include Broadcast, Chinatown, Killhouse, and Creek, and coincide with the launch of the v1.6 patch.
