New Blizzard MMO revealed: Starcraft Online

A Chinese partner involved with Blizzard’s new MMO project has let slip the details: it’s Starcraft Online.
A report on Tradingmarkets.com has revealed that NetEase – a Chinese online game operator – will be running Starcraft Online for Blizzard.
Blizzard itself has not confirmed the game, but has been advertising for staff to work on a new MMO.

Unfortunatley the details posted fore with on this blog are not true. The new MMO that Blizzard are working on is definitely not Starcraft online, lol.
They are going to bring out Starcraft 2, why would they even think of making Starcraft online lol, have you ever thought of that?
Fortunately i happen to know 3 Blizzard employees and i have heard from 2 of them about the new mmo. Although i have not been told a lot, i know enough information to understand what direction blizzard are going with in the new MMO.
I can tell you people right now, right here, that you will be ‘pleasantly’ surprised when you learn of what this new project encompasses. It is going to be so much more bigger than WoW that it is actually quite hard to believe if they can pull it off.
From what i have heard the ‘Variety’ and ‘Player Choice’ in this game is HUGE. Decisions made through the game correspond to ‘important’ events during the life of your character, so much so that ‘player emotion’ directly corresponds to performance benefits and stats. Also aspects such as fatigue, weariness and over working your character cause noticeable negative performance (to control playing time and add strategy). There will be more diversity, i.e, players can actually take up roles by getting to certain reputations (like jobs, can only have 1 job at a time).
This means that this game will probably be very hardcore (since that part of the market is still open and blizz no doubt wanna take control of that), but it will also encompass for the casual gamer as all blizz games do.
The other more detailed and spoiler busting information i know, i cannot disclose, sorry:( but i know for sure you will absolutely love it.

i doubt it’s “StarCraft”. thou it’s very believable.
as far as i know, it will probably encompass the same gameplay like hellgate:london, since they bought the rights to it. so might be console MMO.

I don’t mean to be rude, but where the hell did you get that information? Those drawing are indeed subpar and the Terran one is nothing like what Blizz has established as their lore and style. I mean, have you SEEN SC2 concept art? It’s rather phenominal. This? This was made by some kid with relative artistic talent.
Honestly the market needs a futuristic scifi take on MMOs. The ever so common hack and slash korean midevil flack cramming the market I feel has literally hit the rim and is starting to poor on over the edge getting your feet soaked with all its overdone crap. SO, finally there is a new wind a’blowing and if there is going to be a SC online, I feel that veins are ready for one hell of an injection. Aside from EVE and………well Eve, there really isnt anything that fixes for those “Neo Tech” junkies and this could very well be a spoonful of happy.
Im on board Blizzard, just give me my Protoss Pilot and Ill give you a portion of my income and one HELL of a weekly log in rate.

YEs I was thinking it will be SC Online also. Now after hearing these I have no doubts it will be it…gona go finish my SC campaing then lol. They also go for same template as with war3->WoW btw its awesome.
If SC will be WoW+ it will be awesome. Noone cares about mine (im tired of it and bored and hate it but WoW is still the bestno metter how shitty it is) or yours…WoW is the best. And SC:O bein WoW+ will be nothing but win.
But I definately also think that Blizz as creators..not copy pasters (like pretty much every other MMO developer out there)..will create something new and wesome…based on XP they got developing WoW. Which will be uber awesome and what all others wil lwant to copy lol…again.

Try imagining… Who else if not Blizz can create another BEST MMO? Creators of absolutely addictive PvP and most awesome pve on top of absolutely UBER art style? I mean cmon..WoW simply blows doors being so muhc better than anything else…jsut like that dude Bear Grills on discovery in hes ultimate survivor… Noone creates TV shows like hes only cause they cant even closely match HIM and look stupid xplaing cheap stuff after him being 99% higher in so much everiting.. cmon think guys.
Hmm, thats interesting, but what made starcraft, i.e. being a godly awesome rts, will be absent in a mmorpg. So unless blizzard pulls a rabbit out, this new game will be starcraft only in name and avatar designs

ah btw, the project is still running under the “Next-gen MMO” name, and had NEVER ever anything to do with starcraft, not even in theory, since the starcraft storyline doesn’t provide enough diversity to make it a good MMO without altering the story completely -.-

HAH! As the original artist for this piece and currently a concept artist at Blizzard, let me set the record straight on this piece. I was NOT employed by Blizzard in 2001 when I painted this. I was penciling books for Marvel comics. I had JUST picked up photoshop, and was learning how to paint. This was NOT concept art for Starcraft 2 or any other official product. I was a fan, and put some fan ideas into the designs.
As I am not a public rep for Blizzard, I cannot comment on their unannounced projects. But I can say for certain that this piece is not owned by or produced by Blizzard.
